Far from being lifeless or lawless, deserts are dynamic places where indigenous knowledge offers much to society – and they cover over a third of land on Earth. Can arid lands be spaces for new ecological world-making? Might ‘water wars’ or ‘making the desert bloom’ suggest alternative futures that place drylands at the heart of our thinking?
