Artist John Brown explores the idea of play as a way to discover, learn and invent.
Using the history of construction toys as a starting point Brown employs miniature workshop models as sites for building with a basic set of components.
These materials are built and rebuilt into various natural forms, architecture and experiments. The photographs of these ‘sets’ disguise the object’s original size and allow the viewer to imagine these miniatures as large-scale proposals that use very few resources.
