This week, families and children in North Berwick are being blown away by the wonderful world of wind turbines at Fringe by the Sea! SSE Renewables has teamed up with Edinburgh Science to introduce kids to the fascinating dynamics of wind power. This free drop-in event, Energy Makers, is tailored for children and families, offering an engaging way to learn about renewable energy and offshore wind.

Fringe by the Sea is a not-for-profit, 10 day multi-arts festival set in the beautiful town of North Berwick bringing together like minded people who share a passion for the arts.
What to Expect at Energy Makers
At this hands-on event, children have the opportunity to design and create paper card turbines. They can then test their creations in a wind tunnel, providing a fun and interactive way to understand how wind turbines work. The goal is to teach young attendees about the importance of offshore wind in building a clean energy future.
A Shared Vision for a Net Zero Future
SSE Renewables and Edinburgh Science share the vision of achieving a net zero future through green energy. SSE Renewables is spearheading the development of one of the world’s largest offshore wind projects, Berwick Bank. Located in the outer Firth of Forth, this wind farm has the potential to generate enough renewable energy to power over six million homes, positioning Scotland as a global leader in the fight against climate change.
Making It All Possible
SSE Renewables commissioned us to put on this educational outreach workshop at an annual, local community event in North Berwick. They recognised us for creating first-class informal science education experiences. This initiative not only educates but also inspires the next generation about the possibilities of renewable energy.
