SMEs make up 99% of the UK business community and play a vital role in our transition to net zero, collectively accounting for 50% of CO₂ emissions. For most SMEs, building an effective sustainability strategy is low on the list of priorities and often seems unobtainable – expensive, time consuming and difficult to know where to begin.

The NetZeroToolkit was a science-based, impartial and jargon-free resource that assumed no prior knowledge, breaking sustainability down into eight core components relevant to any business. Each section featured question prompts, guidance notes and a carefully curated set of resources designed to help build an effective sustainability strategy.

During its lifespan, around 700 businesses signed up to The NetZeroToolkit to keep track of their actions, and thousands more were helped by the resources within it.
